Mission and Vision of Our Distant Missions Ministry
Our goal for missions is to take the message of Jesus and make disciples of people who are beyond the direct reach of Fairfax Church of Christ. Fairfax Church of Christ seeks to be a mission-focused church supporting distant missions by:
- Equipping indigenous people to carry on the work independently.
- Developing expertise and involvement where God is opening doors.
- Engaging members to directly support evangelism and evangelistic humanitarian efforts.
- Equipping members with skills and mission opportunities.
- Partnering with effective ministries of other churches or organizations
- Providing prayer, encouragement, oversight and resources.
Fairfax currently focuses its mission resources in the following areas. We are excited about what God has done with missions at FXCC and we are eager to see what doors God will open in the future. To contact our missions committee, email them at missions@fxcc.org.
Thank You
Thank you to the Fairfax members that joined in writing letters of encouragement to our missionaries in November. We received a thank you note from Dominican Republic Missionary Chat Mynatt:
Dear Fairfax Family,
Thank you so much for those letters that you sent here. They truly were a huge encouragement to me and I am sure to all of us. Especially this time of year, it is such a blessing to know there are so many people thinking and praying for you. You truly are a special part of God's family. Thank you for allowing your group to come here and visit us. They were incredible. We look forward to their trip every year and this year was not different. Not only did they bring an end to our Magi season but they brought some Christmas spirit down to the Dominican Republic.
Thanks to you all. I pray that you have a very Merry Christmas.
Love,
chad mynatt
Czech Republic
In 2006, Fairfax began support of Graham Kervin as he moved to Olomouc, Czech Republic. After a period of intensive language study, Graham and his fellow missionaries that form Team Olomouc have engaged in outreach to teens and university students. By hosting Bible studies, English language camps, and other events, they have established a new community for Czech young adults who are eager to belong and to explore faith, hope and God’s love.
Dominican Republic
Through our partnership with Manna Global Ministries (MGM), Fairfax supports a variety of outreach programs on the north coast of the Dominican Republic including a children’s home, an urban outreach center, and a well-drilling project that has provided clean and safe drinking water to dozens of communities. MGM also runs a summer program that engages American teens to help meet the spiritual and physical needs in many Dominican communities.
Every year, our family at Fairfax also provides small Christmas gifts to hundreds of Dominican children through MGM’s Magi project.
For more information visit Manna Global Ministries.
East Asia
Fairfax provides support to a missionary couple in East Asia as they lead Bible studies, campus fellowship groups and engage in direct evangelism to students that otherwise have no opportunity to hear about Jesus due to the political climate and restrictions on religious practice. More detailed information is not published due to security concerns.

Haiti Relief
After an earthquake devastated Port-Au-Prince on January 12, 2010, our church family generously gave over $36,000 towards relief efforts. With these funds, Fairfax and MGM were able to provide much needed food and medical supplies, as well as shelter and transportation in the days and weeks that followed. Fairfax will continue to support MGM through their established outreach efforts in Lagosette, just outside of Cap-Haitien. This mission to the local community has expanded its scope to include those displaced by the earthquake.
Fairfax has also partnered with Global Health Innovations to provide prosthetics to the many earthquake victims that have lost arms and legs. In a culture that doesn't accept physical differences, this will allow amputees to re-enter their society.
Student Missions
The foundation of missions at Fairfax has been laid by the hundreds of teens who have participated in mission trips with our student ministry. These trips have spanned not only the United States, supporting outreach in Connecticut, Maine, New York, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia, but the entire world. Our current efforts in the Dominican Republic and East Asia are direct by-products of our student ministry’s involvement in missions. This year (2010) our teens will be embarking on mission trips to build homes in a mountain village of Honduras and support the local outreach of a Church in Augusta Maine.
Ethiopia
Fairfax hopes to partner with Sustaining Hope in Ethiopia to help save lives and provide significant opportunities for the citizens so that they are empowered to provide for their families and live purposeful lives in their community.
