Community Care

Food  The Fairfax Church of Christ provides food through several different ministries.  There is a food pantry at church that is used by both members and the community; we provide food through outreach events such as our annual Giveaway, we help feed neighborhood children on the weekends through our Backpack Food Program, we help our neighbors enjoy their holidays by bringing them food at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and we assist with monthly food needs and give guidance on ways to stretch the food dollar.
Clothing The Fairfax Church of Christ provides clothing for both members and the community in two different ways:
Our
Community Clothing Giveaway happens yearly in the fall to provide clothes for all ages from infants to adults. Items are available in all sizes for all occasions. In addition, coats, shoes and accessories are available.  Our Clothes Closet provides items on an ongoing basis in all sizes for all occasions. Requests for specific items are taken on an as needed basis and will be filled within 3 days of receiving the request.
Shelter  The Fairfax Church of Christ works closely with the Katherine K. Hanley Family shelter to provide items needed for families transitioning back into a home of their own.  Our Fix-It Squad assists with minor repairs to both home and vehicle and consists of volunteers from the congregation as well as the community.

Opportunities to be God’s Heart to our Community

Join us in one of these ministries - you can help as an individual, a family, a small group, or get together a group from work!

Holiday Food
 – Through Western Fairfax Christian Ministries (WFCM) and Our Daily Bread (ODB), Fairfax Church of Christ provides Thanksgiving and Christmas food to families in Chantilly (the Brookfield Community / Chantilly Mews) each year.  If you, your family, or your small group is willing to shop for and deliver food to designated families the weekend before Thanksgiving and Christmas, please contact Cathie Biggers (communitycare@fxcc.org).  The more volunteers we have, the more families we can feed.  Thank you!

Our Food Pantry – We have a food pantry here at Fairfax Church of Christ that is used for both members and walk-ins who need some extra food.  While you are shopping, pick up an extra item or two and drop it off in the shopping cart that’s down by the offices.  Be sure to mark it for the Food Pantry.  We use items such as boxes of macaroni and cheese, refried beans, small bags of rice, canned fruits, canned vegetables, individual boxes of cereal, individual packets of instant oatmeal, and tuna fish to name a few.  See below for the shopping list.  For more information, please contact Linda Sue Phillips (communitycare@fxcc.org).
